For a night of fun, sports and raffles, come support the Schoolcraft basketball teams at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 12 for Spirit Night. The Ocelots take on Kellogg Community College in a double-header featuring both the mens and womens teams.
The womens team, led by second year Head Coach Kara Kinzer, plays at 5:30 p.m., and the mens team, led by first year Head Coach Abe Mashhour, plays at 7:30 p.m.
To attend both games, the fee is $5, and Spirit Night t-shirts will be for sale for $5. There will also be exciting prizes to win in raffle drawings throughout both games.
“I want to have a big atmosphere, lots and lots of people.” said freshman center Anthony Wartley-Fritz “Were trying to have a black-out so everyone wear black. We want the croud to be turnt up and energized”
Not only will Spirit Night be a blast, the money collected will go to a wonderful cause. All proceeds are donated to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Metro Detroit. This organization matches children with adult volunteers who befriend, guide and advise them. The intent is to help the kids reach their full potential.
“The purpose of Spirit Night at Schoolcraft College, is to elicit the college community in support of intercollegiate athletics, while raising money for such a worthwhile group as the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit,” said Schoolcraft Athletic Director Sid Fox. “Our goal is to raise $1,000, which will help fund an enormous Christmas party for those boys and girls being mentored year-round by adult volunteers who do exceptional work in the area. The event always proves to be a big hit on campus preceding the holiday season.”
Come to Spirit Night to enjoy two basketball games, have fun and donate to a great cause. Do not forget cheer on the Ocelots to victory over Kellogg Community College, and invite friends and family to come along.
