The Schoolcraft Wind Ensemble will be performing in concert at the Novi Civic Center Oct. 24. This event will start at 7 p.m. in a concert event titled “An Evening of Broadway Hits.” Concertgoers can expect a concert full of nothing but music from movies, full of patriotism before Veterans Day and music from some of the most popular movies such as the James Bond series, “Mama Mia,” and a variety of other Broadway hits. Anyone who is interested may attend, with complementary admission. The Novi Civic Center is located at 45175 W 10 Mile Rd, Novi, MI.
“[This is] a unique opportunity for the members of the ensemble to present their music at a concert requested by the City of Novi for their senior citizens,” said Paul M. Michalsen, Director of the Wind Ensemble.
A few weeks later on Nov. 11 at 3 p.m., the Wind Ensemble will be performing at Monroe
County Community College. This event is themed as “A Veterans Day salute.” The Wind Ensemble be performing alongside the Monroe Community College band as a collective effort. The concert will take place in Monroe’s state of the art concert hall called the Lazy Boy Center-Meyer Theater. This auditorium is filled with well over 500 seats, a standing area filled with
amazing acoustics that the audience is sure to enjoy. This event will be the first time where Schoolcraft will have an opportunity to perform at this one of a kind venue. The Lazy Boy Center-Meyer Theater is located at 1555 S Raisinville Rd, Monroe, MI.
The Wind Ensemble will return to campus performing at the VistaTech Center Dec. 8. The concert titled “Sounds of the Season” will feature performances from three of Schoolcraft’s Music Ensembles. Performances from the Collegiate Choir, Synthesizer Ensemble and the Wind Ensemble will all be performing classic seasonal favorites with new and unique presentations by each. This concert starts at 7:30 p.m.
For those who aren’t familiar with either performers, the Schoolcraft Wind Ensemble was established over 40 years ago and is composed of students, faculty, and members of the community ranging from ages 16-90.
“It is the ensemble’s goal to bridge the gap of the generations and present a varied musical experience to members, and our audiences,” said Director Michalsen.
The ensemble performs an average of eight concerts annually, both on and off campus.
