MD2 Schoolcraft College dominated MD1 Oakland University with an 8-0 victory in a one-sided match at Suburban Ice Rochester. The game, which was never in doubt, featured a strong offensive showing from Schoolcraft College and a challenging night for the Oakland University goalkeepers.
Schoolcraft College set the tone early in the first period, taking a 1-0 lead at 17:13 when Fretter scored his 9th goal of the season, assisted by Wainwright and Pegrum. Just over a minute later, Sabala extended the lead to 2-0 at 18:16 with help from Anderson. Oakland’s Pilut was penalized for tripping at 5:22 but was unable to capitalize on the opportunity.
During the second period Schoolcraft exploded offensively in the middle frame, scoring four goals to take control of the game. Boze converted on the power play at 5:28, with Evans and Janis assisting on the goal. Townsend made it 4-0 at 8:31, followed by a goal from Tripp at 10:40, assisted by Brown and Fretter. Elliott added another goal at 14:22 to push the lead to 5-0. The period also saw intense physical play, with multiple misconduct penalties handed out after a series of roughing incidents. Sines, Burdt, Anderson, and Rekar were all assessed game misconduct penalties during a chaotic stretch at 9:52.
Into the third period the Ocelots continued their offensive onslaught with two more goals. Janis made it 6-0 at 9:32, assisted by Brown. Ballantyne completed the scoring with a goal at 17:42, with Krzyzak and Townsend assisting. Oakland was unable to generate any significant offense and could only muster 2 shots on goal in the final period.
