Anime enthusiasts unite! Schoolcraft College is hosting the 4th annual Otaku U Anime Convention on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Vistatech Center in Livonia, Michigan. Organized by the Otaku Anime Club, this all-ages event is a paradise for anime fans in the region, offering a day full of fun, creativity, and a chance to connect with people who share the same interests.
The Otaku Anime Club has been part of campus life for more than twenty years, bringing together students who love anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture. In 2022, the club took things a step further and hosted its first Otaku U convention right on campus. The debut was a hit, drawing people from across the region and giving fans a place to celebrate what they love. The event returned in 2023 and 2024, each year growing a bit more. This year, Tom Arthur, President of the Otaku Anime Club, expects over a thousand people to attend— another sign of just how far the convention has come since its beginning.
What makes Otaku U even more special is that it’s entirely student-run. Every panel, guest, and activity is organized by dedicated students who put in countless hours to make sure everything runs smoothly. Their hard work and passion have turned Otaku U into something much bigger than a campus event—it’s a community tradition that brings people together.
This year, Otaku U is themed Operation Graduation and calling all Agents of Anime to attend. The day will be packed with activities for everyone. Attractions include the Vendor Hall, Cosplay Contest, Food Demo, Luminous Stage Idol Fest, Manga Library, and RIW Hobbies & Games. Fans can join tabletop gaming tournaments, enjoy anime AMV viewings, or take part in The Ribbon Game. The evening will feature karaoke sessions, exciting panels, and much more, making it a full day of anime-filled fun.
One of the main attractions this year is Natalia Van Sistine, the voice of Yor Forger , also known as “The Thorn Princess”, in Spy × Family. Van Sistine will be on panels, answering questions, and sharing a bit about her work in the anime world. It’s a special chance for fans to get a closer look at the voice behind some of their favorite characters.
Otaku U is more than just a convention. It’s a community where people come together, celebrate their interests, and make memories. This event promises to be a fun, memorable day that honors the Otaku Anime Club’s dedication to giving fans a space to connect. Whether it’s your first time or you’ve been coming since the start, 2025’s Otaku U is a chance to be part of something special.
