Ocelots top Cougars in opening round of national tournament

The top ranked Schoolcraft Mens Basketball Team defeated Genesee County (NY) Community College 79-69 on the night of March 17 in the first round of the NJCAA National Tournament.

Freshman guard Ja’Christian Biles had 26 points and 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the year and sophomore forward Javan Thomas racked up 13 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. Freshman forward Anthony Wartley-Fritz scored 10 points and added six boards while freshman guard Ronald booth added 14 points and four assists as well.

The Cougar’s scoring mainly came from sophomore guard Ervin Mitchell, who had 27 points, and sophomore guard Naquil Jones, who scored 26 points.

The first round victory improves the Ocelots record to 30-3, making them the first Division II team to reach the thirty win mark this season.
