Delta opened the scoring midway through the first half with an unassisted goal from freshman midfielder Lindsey Musser, but the Ocelots were able to respond before the half concluded when sophomore forward Jenna Smith connected with freshman forward Megan Swirczek, who buried a strike past the Delta keeper in the 42nd minute to tie the game 1-1.

The Ocelots came out strong in the second half, and were able to take the lead in the 49th minute behind a strike from sophomore forward Jamila Thombs that found its way into the back of the net to give the Ocelots a 2-1 lead. Thombs once again scored in the 63rd minute to seal the victory for the Ocelots. Sophomore goalkeeper Lauryn Auspitz played all 90 minutes in goal, racking up her first win of the season. First year Head Coach Joe Carver recorded his first collegiate win in the victory.

The Ocelots (1-0-0) continue MCCAA conference play with three consecutive home games; on Sept. 22 at 3pm against Lake Michigan CC, Sept 27 at 3pm against Jackson CC and on Sept. 30 at 12pm against Muskegon CC.

As of Sept. 12, the Ocelots are currently ranked 11th in the NJCAA Division 1 regular season poll. The Ocelots were ranked ninth in the pre-season poll.
