More than 70 local employers from a variety of industries will ascend upon Schoolcraft College’s VisTaTech Center, DiPonio room April 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. for the annual spring job fair. The job fair is free and open to the public. All current students, alumni, and community members are encouraged to attend.

“Our goal with the job fair is to get a wide array of employers that will appeal to the greatest number of job seekers and we also kind of look to reflect the programs here that we offer at Schoolcraft.” said JoAnne Stadnicar, Schoolcraft College Career Services Student Employee Specialist.

Industries in attendance will be a part of the business, education, health care, public safety and engineering, with emphasis on the manufacturing and hospitality sectors. The target audience that employers will be look for range from entry level workers to those with are advanced and professional degrees. A few employers that are currently registered to be in attendance are Lowe’s, Home Depot and the Wayne County Sheriff’s department.

Attendees are encouraged to dress professionally, bring resumes, references and examples of their work to show potential employers. Job seekers can also ask questions to find out more about what the company offers and they can get some insight on who is hiring.

“Consider it like an informal interview. So we suggest to people that they dress business casual unless they are looking for something in a management area in which case they should dress appropriately,” said Stadnicar. “Even if they are not looking for a job, it’s a good way to fact find and make connections with employers.”
