If people want to make new memories and get to know other students, this party can help them do just that. The Hawaiian Luau party takes place this Wednesday, April 3, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Student Activities Center in the Lower Waterman of the VistaTech Center.
The Student Activities Board (SAB) invites Schoolcraft students to a fun Hawaiian themed party. It is aimed to encourage students to join other students on campus for social events and to become more engaged with their College experience.
“We also want to provide fun events so campus can be seen as not only a place of learning, but a place of inspiration,” said by Lee, vice president of the SAB.
Attendees will appreciate the laid-back and lively nature of this Luau themed party. This event will give students a chance to get to know more students on campus in a fun and entertaining way. Attendees are encouraged to dress up to match the theme within an appropriate limit and while also remaining respectful to the Hawaiian culture.
Anyone who attends this event can participate in a best dressed contest that has three or more categories such as outfits that resemble tourists, hula dancers, have the most vibrant colors, etc. There will be a hula hoop contest, limbo and some more games to be a part of during the four-hour event. A DJ will be available to play 2000s hits, throwbacks, tropical Hawaiian songs and dance music that will give attendees a nostalgic feeling throughout the night.
A catering company Queen’s Food will be providing food for the evening with hummus, tabbouleh grape leaves and pita chips. There will also be pizza and snacks on hand. For the beverages, Hawaiian punch, among other refreshing drinks, will be made available.
