There is power in the name

Over the past few decades, we have seen some of the worst in humanity and some of the best. Every day we hear that someone has fallen victim to harassment, violence, inequality and bullying. The media tells us of the battle between Second Amendment rights or the many who are subjected to racial bias. We hear about all the times when someone is offended by the words of another, whether intentional or not.
People around the world are pointing fingers at one another and are in constant debate as to the direct their world should take. The planet is crying with their tears consisting of plastic and carbon dioxide while all of humanity is struggling to breath through the smog of a broken democracy. It’s nothing short to say that humanity is broken.
But what about all the good that fails to see the spotlight?
What about all the volunteers that step up to provide for the needy?
What about all the first responders, nurses and doctors who are risking their own health during the current global crisis surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic?
When Sept. 11 happened, we saw our own nation of the United States stand together and help their neighbor. Partisanship was put aside. Today, we are so concerned about how we speak because we don’t want to hurt someone’s feelings that we lose ourselves in the process. There is some much hate and prejudice toward those who look different from you. The acts of the few have since made up those of the many.
I hate to admit that from time to time, I’ve fallen victim to all of those things. I was at rock bottom once – coming back from a path that I was led astray on. I started to see the best in humanity. Don’t get me wrong, the struggle is definitely real for everyone, even me, but I refuse to believe that the way the world is today; I refuse to believe that this is who we are now.
I have seen so much good, even in the smallest moments in people around me, but what I will say is that I think we’ve lost faith. Not so much faith in humanity or faith in each other, but faith in God.
While I fully respect the religious views of each person and I do not press my own on anyone- I have seen God do so much in my own life in the past few years. When all hope is lost or the feeling of doubt arises, look up and know that you will never be alone. It can be hard to place trust in someone you cannot see, but that is wear your faith lies.
When I feel anxious or lost, there is always one scripture verse that leads me home:

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you,” 1 Peter 5: 6-7.

So, when you feel lost, anxious, full of worry or doubt, remember He is always there.
The world would do well to welcome faith and the Lord back into their lives.
