Our favorite parts of fall

The Vibe

No season comes close to beating the vibe that fall gives off.

As soon as the leaves begin to change and t-shirts get traded in for long-sleeves, everyone knows that Halloween is rolling in right around the corner like a big ole Pumpkin. From the first of September all the way to the end of October, it’s a two month atmospheric joyride full of haunted houses, horror movies, pumpkin carving, costumes and decorations. All of this leading up to the best day of the year, of course, so grab that candy bowl, because the trick or treaters are soon to follow.

Cider Mills

Providing the best conditions for apple trees, Michigan is known for its cider mills and arguably most important, the cinnamon sugar donuts. From pumpkin patches and caramel apples to plenty of fall festivities for families and all, there are around 90 cider mills in the state. One of the most well-known mills, Yates Cider Mill, claims to be the oldest; being built in 1863 and originally known as Yates Grist Mill. Like Yates and other cider mills, the fresh cider, donuts and caramel apples are perfect for warming you up in the colder fall months.

Sweaters

Being outside in orchards and mills will start to get a little chilly as temperatures drop and the fall weather starts to roll through. However, the most cozy solution to have fun picking pumpkins is to don a lovely sweater. There’s nothing like the feeling of a nice, comfy knit as the nights get naturally long and noon gets noticeably narrow, no doubt about it. Plus, it’s pretty stylish!

Corn Mazes

In the words of  young Tariq, the official corn-bassador of South Dakota “for me, I really like corn”…mazes! Nothing beats getting lost in a maze of maise for hours with friends who are equally clueless as to the escape. It’s a-maze-ing! Better yet, when the maze is nearly deserted around sunset, save for a couple dumb teens throwing corn around trying to hit the other group of dumb teens who keep making corny jokes…wait, what? Maybe don’t throw corn around. It’s kind of a safety hazard.

Black Friday shopping

Those who enjoy shopping in their free time, Black Friday is by far one of the best fall events. Shoppers find it satisfying to walk out of the store with a mountain of name-brand clothes for under $50. Although Black Friday is known for the intense atmosphere, there is just something about the rush you get while shopping and trying to operate through those who are taking advantage of a quick sale. What a great way to end the fall season!

Pumpkin Spice Lattes

There is something that excites many about the Pumpkin Spice Latte (PSL) season. Every year we seem to get super disappointed that summer is coming to an end. Then, out comes Fall decor, earthy, burnt tones all over our social media pages and the PSL. Suddenly, we feel ready for fall and all the fun activities that come with it. Starbucks and Dunkin have already released their signature fall lattes, including the PSL so you can get a taste of Fall, today!
