The fan favorite Scott Lang has returned to the big screens for the third installment of the incredible size shifting hero, Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantamania.

In this film directed by Peyton Reed, Lang and the gang are going bigger than they have ever been before while funnily enough being as small as they possibly can.

The plot focuses on Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) along with his daughter Cassie Lang (Kaythryn Newton), Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) as they find themselves trapped in the mysterious Quantum Realm and must face many dangers within. Along their journey, they interact with a variety of characters and factions and ultimately come face to face with the intimidating Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathon Majors, who wishes to escape the Quantum Realm with his vast armies to claim the multiverse.

The main attraction this film flaunts is of course the mesmerizing Quantum Realm, a vast otherworldly place teeming with beautiful environments yet deadly creatures. This is one of the best alien settings in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in terms of visual spectacle and alien nature. It includes many unique lifeforms and some are heavily influenced by microorganisms that are brought to life by Marvel’s artists and advanced CGI.

When it comes to performances, Paul Rudd once again shines brightly in this movie as its main protagonist. His friendly attitude along with his classic dry humor makes his scenes incredibly entertaining. Throughout the movie, you can tell that while he is happy to be with his daughter again, Scott still feels bad that he missed so much of Cassie’s life. He has fantastic synergy with Kaythryn Newton as they perform a fantastic father daughter duo that can be as funny as it is heartwarming.

Jonathan Majors performed an outstanding antagonist as Kang throughout the film. He combined a chilling yet calm presence and powerful emotional weight that stole the show in every scene. The only problem with his character is that his motive was never clearly defined in the film. It makes sense why he is so mysterious because he is such an important character to the overall franchise. Marvel wants to keep the audience guessing on why things are happening and what will happen next. So that is why the movie doesn’t reveal everything about Kang to the audience. Nevertheless, Jonathan Majors gave a phenomenal performance and fans are excited to see more of him in the future.

When it comes to the story, the film provides a serviceable yet entertaining story. However where this movie lacks in engaging storytelling it makes up for with lovable side characters and entertaining dialogue.

The camera work and visual effects were top notch along with the amazing effects and animations.

While it is not as groundbreaking as recent titles and may not hold up as well as past installments, it is still fun to watch and has many enjoyable moments that many people will enjoy.
