The #9 Schoolcraft College men’s soccer team moved to 2-0 in conference play with a 3-0 win over Jackson College.
There were a ton of chances in the first half for the Ocelots with sixteen total shots in the half, but Schoolcraft was only able to muster one goal when Jonathan Betts put one in with help from Gavin Brose in the 33rd minute. The defense was on point with multiple players rotating in and out as the Ocelots would only allow four shots in the first half, with Brenden Ware keeping them all out of the net. To take the defense even further, Jackson would not have a single corner kick opportunity.
The second half saw a little more fun for the Ocelots in the offensive end. Defensemen Connor Sheenan would join the fun as he ripped a goal from around the 18-yard box with help from Kyle Jennings and Brose again. Shennan’s goal would happen in the 52nd minute. Just three minutes later in the 55th minute, Jennings would get on the scoring side of a goal and have Kellen Larson help him on this one. Things were smooth sailing the rest of the way for the Ocelots, twenty-one total players would see time on the field. Ware would face only two more shots in the second half and save both to earn his first clean sheet of the season.
#9 Schoolcraft (3-1, 2-0) returns to the pitch on Friday, September 1 as they travel to Grand Rapids Community College (3-0, 2-0) with kickoff at 3pm.
