The soccer teams did it again. The Ocelots beat Lake Michigan College for the second time this season.
The 7th ranked women hit the road against Lake Michigan College and added to the win column in a tight 2-1 victory on Oct. 4th.The win extended the Ocelots winning streak to nine games.
Zero goals were scored from either team in the first half. To start the second half, forward Paige Stephens scored with assists from forward Ashley Hughes and midfielder Bri Waranauckas in the 56th minute.
At the 68th minute defender Bella Elliott scored on a penalty kick. Lake Michigan didn’t give up the fight and scored at the 75th minute when LayRay Paw found the back of the net to make it 2-1. That would be the only goal allowed against the Ocelots for the remainder of the game.
Goaltender Jami Martindale had three saves in the game. The win would mark Martindale’s thirteenth win of the season.
The womens currently hold a 13-3 record overall and 10-1 in conference play.
The back half of the doubleheader featured the 7th ranked men’s team, kicking it out of the park and securing an 18-0 victory over the Red Hawks. This marked the 100th goal mark of the season for the Ocelots and extended their winning streak to eight games.
Forward Tommy Mittelstadt started the stream of goals at the 5th minute with an assist from forward Dante Davidon. Shortly after at the 11th minute Mittelstadt scored his second goal with an assist from defender Diego Ayala.
At the 14th minute Davidson scored his first of four goals with an assist from forward Gavin Lamere. With 41 minutes left in the first half Schoolcraft leads 4-0. Forward Marco Pomponio scored a goal at the 37th minute with assists from defender Connor Shennan and forward Guilherme Gouvea. Following was another goal from Mohanad Alasaad at the 40th minute with assists from Gouvea and midfielder Abed Swidan. Pomponio scores his second of three goals at the 45th minute without any assists.
The Ocelots held a 7-0 lead at the half.
Shortly into the second half, Davidson scored a goal at the 48th minute with an assist from Lamere. Two minutes later at the 50th minute Davidson scored again with an assist from Ayala. Davidson scored his last of four goals at the 55th minute with an assist from midfielder Dominic Maisano. At the 58th minute Mittelstadt scored his third goal with an assist from defender Matheus Barbosa. Soon after at the 59th minute Lamere scored with an assist from midfielder Alex Wenske. Pomponi scored his third goal at the 62nd minute with an assist from defender Ethan Walker. With 28 minutes left in the second half Schoolcraft leads 13-0.
At the 70th minute midfielder Abdulrahmen Ahmed scored his first of two goals with an assist from midfielder Kyle Jennings. Ahmed scores again at the 82nd minute with another assist from Jennings. Gouvea scored at the 84th minute with an assist from forward Ahmed Hssain. At the 87th minute Hssain scores with assists from Jennings and midfielder Kyle Wilcox.
The last goal of the game came at the 89th minute by Swidan with an assist from Ahmed.
In the net Brenden Ware got the start and the win, recording thirty minutes of play with Vedad Vila coming in to close out the rest of the game. Neither goalie would see a shot on goal.
The men currently hold an 11-2 record and 6-1 in conference play.
