Following a win at Macomb, the Ocelots looked to move to 2-0 in MCCAA play, hosting the Bears from Mott.
Coming into the contest shorthanded with several players missing due to sickness, which did not stop the Ocelots from asserting their strength. With 3 players earning their first career starts, Ravyn Guy, Monica Hibbler, and Amelia Levine, the depth would be tested for Schoolcraft.
The depth would prove to be a strong suit for Schoolcraft in the contest at Guy, Hibbler and Levine would combine for 27 points on their way to 96 team points. Schoolcraft would quickly gain a6-0 lead just a minute and a half into the game and would not look back from there. Schoolcraft would have a 25-11 lead after the 1st quarter, and that lead would only increase following a 23-5 2nd quarter in favor of Schoolcraft.
The Ocelots would outscore Mott 48-21 in the 2nd half as they would defeat the Bears 96-37. The 59-point margin of victory would be Schoolcraft’s 2nd largest defeat of the season. Raegan Byrd and Garyana Overton, the other 2 starters, would each have 18 points to tie for the team high. Guy, in her first start, would add 17 points and Siena McNitt would add 11 points off the bench. Overton would grab 14 rebounds, a game high, on her way to her 2nd double-double of the season.
Schoolcraft looks to remain undefeated in conference play as they travel to Wayne County on Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip.
