The iconic rock band “The Used” is celebrating its 25th anniversary and what better way to kick off this milestone tour than a stop in the Motor City.
This highly anticipated tour featured three-night performances at The Fillmore Detroit on April 3, 5 and 6 with each show being held in front of capacity crowds.
Each night featured a different album. Fans heard The Used (2002) on April 3, In Love and Death (2004) on April 5 and Lies for the Liars (2007) on April 6 with the band playing front to back, reliving the music that defined a generation of alternative rock.
Fans lined Woodward Ave on April 5 and surrounding streets before doors opened with excitement. Despite the tour overlapping with the Detroit Tigers opening weekend fans didn’t mind having to share the entertainment district which added to the vibes of the night. People traveled from all over Michigan, the Midwest and even Canada to be a part of “The Used’s the 25th Anniversary tour. One fan who drove from Canada was excited to make her first trip to Detroit. She had always wanted to see the city and her favorite band.
Many fans had come to see “The Used” at their Saturday performance but and chose to see them on an additional an additional day as well. One fan stated she liked “The Used” because they were such a constant band, they really love their followers, they always engage with the audience and try to make each show unique.
During the April 5th show concert on Saturday the band brought up a young girl named Claire from the audience to join them on stage.
The consensus of the night was that In Love and Death (2004) was everybody’s favorite album and attendees they were excited to listen to an album the band made earlier in their careers.
“The Used” debuting their first album in 2002 and continued to release new albums periodically through 2025.
Most of the fans who attended the shows had began to listen to “The Used” in the early 2000’s during their teenage years. One fan commented that “The Used” was her gateway into Emo music and opened her up to her now favorite genre of music. She has been following the band since she was 16 years old.
On the other hand some of the younger individuals at the concert had heard about the band through their parents. One young fan said explained how his dad listened to the band a lot while he was a kid and passed down his love for emo and rock music to him. There were quite a few families and younger children with their parents, hoping to pass down the love of the music and genre to younger generations.
The energy of “The Used” during their concerts was unmatched and they really roped in their audience from the start. The band showed their gratitude for their fans and were excited to share this milestone with each and every one of them.
Based on how the fans reacted to the opening to their 25th anniversary tour here in Detroit, “The Used” should have no problem getting the same reactions when they hit major cities such as Boston, Chicago, New York, New Jersey, Salt Lake City, Denver, and Los Angeles, before wrapping up in San Diego on May 17.
