In a high-level matchup, the #8 Schoolcraft College women’s soccer team, fell at home to #12 ranked Iowa Central Community College, 2-0 on Sept. 5. Iowa Central’s goalkeeper Alyssa Tucker stood out with ten saves, securing the shutout for the Tritons.
Iowa Central opened the scoring just twelve minutes into the first half with a goal by Gracie Lozenski. The Tritons held the lead for the rest of the first half. The Ocelots had six shots on goal, with two dangerous chances that showed just how impeccable the Tritons’goalkeeper was. Iowa had a total of four shots. In the second half, Schoolcraft came out determined to change the game. The numbers show the team’s determination, with a total of sixteen shots on goal, eight of them saved by Tucker.
Unfortunately, their efforts to find the scoreboard didn’t pay off. At the 30 minute mark, Triton’s Sydney Pettey, sealed the game, keeping her team undefeated on the season with a three-game winning streak, nineteen goals in three games, and zero goals against.
Despite the final score, the Ocelots walked off the field with their heads held high. The team is now 3-2 on the season.
Schoolcraft hits the road next Saturday, Sept. 13 for a 1 p.m. matchup at Alpena Community College.
