The Schoolcraft Men’s Soccer team delivered an effective performance against Lakeland Community College, cruising to a 9-0 victory on Sept 10. The match was stopped in the 75th minute due to the new rule that ends games once an eight–goal margin is reached. Even with the shortened time, the Ocelots had more than enough to showcase their attacking power and secure one of the most dominant wins of the season.
It all started in the 14th minute when Devlin McGinnis opened the scoring after a well–worked team play. From there, he was unstoppable, netting four goals with trademark composure inside the box.
While McGinnis shined, his teammates also joined the party.
Sophomore defenseman Niko Demopolis struck in the first half after a setup from Derek Trinklein, and Luis Maldonado made his presence felt with a hat trick at crucial moments.
To cap off the afternoon, Giovanni Ivezaj added the ninth goal, rounding out a stellar performance in which he also provided key assists.
The dominance wasn’t just on the scoreboard. The numbers tell the story: 27 shots to just 2 for Lakeland, plus 8 corners earned compared to 3 for the hosts.
Goalkeepers D’Angelo Farmer and Benjamin Modronja split time in net and preserved the clean sheet, each registering one save.
More than just a victory, it was a statement of confidence for the Ocelots.
The attack flowed, the midfield dictated the tempo, and the defense held firm, limiting Lakeland to rare, isolated chances.
Fans witnessed a true display of offensive firepower, proof that this team is aiming high this season.
Now, attention shifts to the next challenge on Saturday against Alpena Community College. Riding their winning streak, the Ocelots step in with confidence that they can keep building momentum, while staying grounded in the knowledge that every game is a new chapter in their bigger journey.
Next up for the Ocelots is Alpena CC on Saturday, Sept 13.
