The Schoolcraft Men’s Ice Hockey team picks ups their second win of the season by beating the University of Toledo 7-3 on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025 at Farmington Hills Ice Arena.
The team delivered an impressive performance behind a balanced offensive attack and dominant special teams play.
The Ocelots set the tone early when Logan Tripp opened the scoring at 5:16 of the first period with a power-play goal, assisted by Bryce Scarlett and Andrew Evans. Toledo managed to even the score late in the frame, but Schoolcraft quickly regrouped and took command in the second.
The Ocelots erupted for four unanswered goals in the middle period to seize control of the game. Dustin Fretter broke the tie at 5:47 with a power-play marker from Josh Dumont, and just over two minutes later, Tripp struck again—this time shorthanded—off a perfect setup from Scarlett. Schoolcraft continued to roll as Owen Hall added his second goal of the season at 16:35 (assisted by Fretter and Leonard Sabala), and Sabala closed the period with his first of the year at 19:45 from Hall and Kyle Janis, sending the Ocelots into the second intermission with a commanding 5–1 lead.
Schoolcraft kept its foot on the gas in the third period. Evans extended the lead to 6–1 at 7:08 off assists from Scarlett and Hall, while Alex Kozar added his first of the season at 10:57 from Josh Boze. Toledo scored twice late in the frame, but it wasn’t enough to slow down the Ocelots’ offensive onslaught.
Goaltender Leo Tykoski was solid between the pipes, stopping 30 of 33 shots to earn the win.
The Ocelots outshot the Rockets 37–33 and were perfect on special teams, going 2-for-2 on the power play while adding a shorthanded goal.
The Ocelots are 2-0 on the season.
