When it comes to balancing schoolwork and a job, a student may feel overwhelmed and stressed. However, Twinkle Kukreja takes her student involvement beyond the average Schoolcraft student.
Kukreja is currently involved in three activities within Schoolcraft, not to mention being a full-time student. Truly, Twinkle Kukreja does it all: a student assistant in the Student Admissions office, a member of the Women’s Advocacy Club, and Club President of the International Student Organization.
“I work as a Student Assistant at the Admissions and Welcome Center on campus. Some of my daily tasks include sending out admission letters, preparing folders for campus tours, keeping the office organized, helping students with admission inquiries, answering phone calls, and working with spreadsheets, etc,” said Kukreja.
With the amount of involvement she has within her student employee job, it is no wonder Kukreja is Schoolcraft’s Student Employee of the Month for October.
Kukreja’s job varies day by day, but she is also willing to lend a hand to students.
“My favorite part of the job is definitely helping students; it’s such a great learning experience every day. I’ve met some really interesting people, and there’s never a dull moment in the office,” said Kukreja.
Not only does Kukreja excel in her Schoolcraft position, but she is keeping a high standard in her academics.
Kukreja speaks highly of her newfound admiration for history.
“Right now, I’m in an Early Modern World History class, and I had no idea I’d enjoy history this much until now. I’ve also been lucky to have some of the best professors. If I could re-learn all the math I know, I’d want Professor Shields to teach me again. She’s hands down the best math professor I’ve ever had,” said Kukreja.
Kukreja is also motivated by her supervisor, Admissions & Welcome Center Coordinator, Kerri Eby. Eby not only has influenced Kukreja, but also checks in on her. Eby’s kindness towards Kukreja inspires her to do her best and continue to excel in the Admissions Office.
“My supervisor, Kerri, always motivates me to be better. Even when I visited India over the summer, she was checking in on me, which was so sweet of her. I absolutely adore and love her. I’m surrounded by the nicest people.” said Kukreja.
Kukreja laments her academic journey at Schoolcraft will end at the Winter 2026 semester and she will be transferring to Eastern Michigan University where she will continue her studies in Computer Science. She is also hopeful her future at Eastern Michigan University will be as “supportive” and “nice” as everyone she has met at Schoolcraft.
Kukreja advises current students to not just excel greatly in their academic performances, but also get involved.
“Just get out there. You won’t know your full potential until you explore. Don’t be afraid to reach out to people, especially at Schoolcraft. You have to take initiative; things don’t just fall into your lap. Join clubs, talk to people, and get involved. There’s always something happening here, and it’s such a great way to make friends and find your place,” said Kukreja.
Her advice has made her what she is today: a positive, happy, and determined student with countless activities and responsibilities under her belt.
After all, students may just need a little push to get them out of their comfort zone and try new things.
Plus, who knows? A student who tries a new club or activity could be offered the“President” position, just like Kukreja.
As Nike says, “Just do it!” and so does Twinkle Kukreja. Kukreja truly represents what it means to be a Schoolcraft Student Employee and model student.
