The Schoolcraft Ocelots delivered a commanding performance Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Farmington Hills Ice Arena, overwhelming the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies by a score of 8–1.
Schoolcraft wasted no time setting the tone, lighting the lamp three times in the opening frame. Ryan Fretter opened the scoring at 4:24, converting feeds from Landen Burdt and Julian Wainwright. Less than two minutes later, Andrew Evans doubled the lead off assists from Bryce Scarlett and LoganTripp. Oakland briefly answered when Cam Laufer buried his first of the season from Tommy Davis and Shane Arbour, but Tripp restored the Ocelots’ two-goal cushion before intermission.
The second period was all Schoolcraft. Tripp added his second of the night early in the frame, followed by goals from Sam Morra and another from Fretter, pushing the lead to 6–1. The Ocelots’ relentless forecheck and sharp puck movement left little room for Oakland to recover.
Schoolcraft capped off the rout in the third period with tallies from Landon West and Owen McGowan, sealing an 8–1 final. Goaltender Nolan Brown stood tall between the pipes, turning aside 32 of 33 shots to earn the win.
Oakland netminder Caleb Godlewski faced heavy pressure, making 27 saves before being relieved by Max Pierce, who stopped 17 of 19 shots in relief.
Schoolcraft outshot Oakland 52–33, controlling the pace from start to finish. Neither team converted on the power play, with the Ocelots going 0-for-0 and the Grizzlies 0-for-1.
With the decisive victory, Schoolcraft continues to build momentum early in the 2025–26 season.
