Planting the seeds to succeed
Remote Learning Mentors to host academic success strategies
June 2, 2020
Are you taking a remote or online class this semester and are unsure where to begin?
Get prepared to start on the road to success June 8 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the Learning Support Services department.
The Remote Learning Mentors (RLMs), who are students trained in effective online study strategies, will host an online forum and work to provide a graceful transition to online classes for any students interested in improving their academic skill sets.
There will be trivia and discussion about productive study strategies. Additionally, information about different student services available at Schoolcraft College will be given out.
Anyone taking a remote or online class during the spring or summer semester is encouraged to attend. Join peers remotely to learn how to be successful in any environment. This session will emphasize how remote resources offered can enhance the college experience during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The goal of the event is to introduce the Remote Learning Mentors with students, and in a fun way,” Assistant Director of Learning Support Services, Sharon Christian explained. “The Remote Learning Mentors (RLMs) are students who provide study strategies specific to online and remote classes. They’re also a great resource for questions students have about campus resources that are available to them remotely.”
RLMs are available to meet with students one-on-one to answer questions about how to prepare for online classes. They exist to give students a smooth transition into online academic life. Regardless of whether a student has an A or a D, the RLMs will be ready and available to help anyone in need.
