Ben Bolstrum, Editor-in-Chief
Hello there. My name is Ben Bolstrum, maybe you’ve heard of me. I’m the current captain of this metaphorical ship, but I’m far from the first and I won’t be the last.
Remember Matthew Fular?
Remember Chantele Fox?
I sure do.
It’s a humbling experience to take what I’ve learned from them and pass it on to the next generation. As Editor-inChief of the Connection, I’ve seen the return of the print edition of our paper after a small COVID-centric sabbatical.
Remember the past two years?
That thing.
Bringing back the paper has been a challenge to say the least, but would be far from possible to do alone. The stories you read in this print and from the website are written by talented, passionate and creative individuals who want to see each other succeed. These are people I am proud to call my friends. With three years of experience under my belt at this point I’m starting to feel… old.
My time here is running out and soon enough I’ll be moving on and passing the torch. I can hear the ticking of the clock as time passes by. Every second of every day, the clock ticks, leading up to the next chapter. I’ve been here for so long that I don’t know what I’ll move on to, what will happen next, but I do know that this little office in the Lower Waterman of the VisTaTech Center has become home in a way.
They say that you never know you’re in the “good ole’ days” until they’re over, but not me, I always knew. From late nights on campus with friends to the sometimes frantic grind of getting stories out to you, dear reader, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
