Connection wins 14 awards in state journalism contests

The staff won 14 awards in state journalism contests for the 2021-22 academic year.

Journalism excellence continues for the Schoolcraft Connection. The Connection staff received 14 awards from the Michigan Community College Press Association (MCCPA) which was announced April 20. Last month the staff received 7 awards from the Michigan Press Association (MPA). This gives the staff a combined total of 21 awards for the 2021-22 academic year. The Connection was recognized for excellence in writing, design, photography and multimedia reporting.
Over the last ten years the Connection has been awarded 242 awards from MCCPA and MPA combined.
The Connection winners for the MPA Better College Newspaper Contest included:
1st place for Feature Story: Madison Ling
2nd place for Feature Story: Ben Bolstrum
2nd place for Editorial: Schoolcraft Connection Staff
3rd place for Feature Story: Matthew Fular and Madison Ling
3rd place for Sports News/Features: Matthew Fular
3rd place for Column Review or Sports Blog: Matt Karbonik
3rd place for Overall Best Newspaper in Division III: Schoolcraft Connection Staff
