Schoolcrafts’ November student employee of the month is Yolanda Edwards. Her role is working in the Schoolcraft industrial kitchen as a prep cook and culinary operations, located in the Vistatech Center. She works to prepare and cook food items that will be used for final production in the Main Street Café, JC Café and Craft Grille. Yolanda has worked
Edwards is currently in her second year of the culinary arts program here at Schoolcraft. She loves working in the prep kitchen because of how much experience she gains.
“In the classroom we go over a skill one time, but in the culinary kitchen you get the opportunity to work on your skills over and over again.”said Edwards. After the culinary program Edwards wants to open her own restaurant, working in the kitchen gives her the experience of a lifetime.
Edwards started working in the culinary kitchen a little over a month ago and is working 25 hours a week. When she gets to work she is eager to learn everything she can, she volunteers for projects and takes on extra tasks that will grow her skills. Before opening her own restaurant, she wants to excel in all areas of the kitchen.
