Lansing Community College outpaces Schoolcraft in high-scoring battle
Lansing Community College surged past Schoolcraft 16-10 in a high-scoring showdown during game one of two at the Corner Ballpark on March 15, 2025. Lansing’s explosive offense racked up 18 hits, led by Bobby Butler’s two home runs and five RBIs.
The Stars jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the first inning and adding five more in the middle frames. Schoolcraft rallied with a seven-run fifth inning, highlighted by Noah McCann’s three RBIs, but Lansing responded with a six-run seventh to put the game out of reach.
Lansing’s Jack Bakus went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs, while Aamir Mitchell added a triple and three RBIs. Joey Bruno also had a strong day, scoring three runs and stealing a base.
On the mound, Lansing’s Braden Slogor earned the win, allowing five runs over 5.1 innings. Walker Glyshaw closed out the final inning to secure the victory.
Schoolcraft’s offense put up a fight with 12 hits, including extra-base hits from McCann, Braylon Schroeder, and Abel Gutierrez. Despite their efforts, defensive struggles, including five Lansing errors and a critical bases-loaded hit-by-pitch, proved costly.
Lansing Community College secures 8-2 victory over Schoolcraft
Lansing Community College continued its strong season picking up another victory in game two of the double header 8-2. The Stars capitalized on early scoring opportunities and solid pitching to claim their 10th win of the season.
Lansing broke the game open in the second inning, plating four runs, with key hits from Jack Bakus and Parker Vaughn. Schoolcraft responded with two runs in the fifth, but Lansing’s late three-run rally in the seventh put the game out of reach.
Bakus led the offensive charge, going 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, and two RBIs. Vaughn also contributed two doubles and drove in two runs, while Aamir Mitchell added an RBI and a stolen base.
On the mound, Lansing’s Peyton Gillean pitched 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out five. Sean Bartlett (3-1) earned the win in relief, shutting down Schoolcraft with 2.1 scoreless innings.
For Schoolcraft, Noah McCann doubled and drove in a run, while Abel Gutierrez added an RBI. Pitcher Owen Elsey put in a solid effort, allowing no earned runs over six innings but was hurt by defensive errors.
