Calling all Ocelots! Gather some friends and head to the St. Joe’s Sports Dome Feb. 21 from 12- 2 p.m. to try to burst each others bubbles while striving to win a match of Bubble Soccer.
“This is the second time Schoolcraft is hosting this event,” states Student Activities Director, Todd Stowell. “It was a great time the last time we held it, so we decided to bring it back for the chance to provide students with the chance to exercise while having fun with their friends.”
Sign up for this Student Activities and Fitness Center sponsored event begins at 11:30 a.m. After signing a waiver to participate, students will then prepare to get inside the enclosed and clear bubbles. Bars will be on the inside of the enclosed spheres to help players bounce back after a fall in the full-contact game.
“The chances of getting injured are pretty small when you’re in an actual bubble,” Stowell commented. “However, they can get hot when you’ve been inside and sprinting in this intense game for a while. We advise students to take frequent breaks throughout their play to rest and catch their breath before coming back in.”
There is no fee to participate in Bubble Soccer and the duration that students spend playing in the match is completely up to them.
This event is sponsored by the Student Activities Office and the Fitness Center to get students involved in a week of fitness. Students should also keep an eye and ear out for further events that the Fitness Center will be hosting in an effort to encourage all to maintain their health and challenge their physical limits. After all, nothing beats bursting the bubble of hungry competitors!
