Talk the talk, walk the walk

Walking Taco fundraiser to assist Radcliff food pantry

Madison Ling, Campus Life Editor

Come visit the Lower Waterman and celebrate Taco Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
To recognize the day, chili will be prepared by Schoolcraft faculty and made into walking tacos to purchase for $3.
“We started this event a few years back as a unique way to treat the Schoolcraft community and to raise funds for a great cause,” states Student Activities Director, Todd Stowell.
These delicious and portable snacks do more than talk the talk, they also walk it by donating 10 percent of proceeds to the Radcliff Food Pantry. This resource located in Room 256 aims to ease collegiate hunger by providing two bags of groceries twice a month to registered students for no charge at all. All that’s required to do retrieve them is to fill out a form before selecting their items.
To assist and support the Food Pantry’s mission, Student Activities hosts consistent fundraisers that keep the shelves stocked with non-perishable items and personal care products. Thus, the Chili luncheon was created and from it, this event was born.
“In years past, we’ve sold as many as 87 walking tacos and raised $260 for the Radcliff Food Pantry,” Stowell continued. “Our hope and goal is to meet this previous number or to raise even more funds, if possible.”
Come save the day from hunger pangs by purchasing a walking taco Jan. 28 to show what our community is really capable of when we all unite to support a great cause.
