The Schoolcraft Ocelots welcomed in the Triceratops from Tri-C in hopes to bounce back from last night’s loss against Edison State.
The Ocelots would come out of the gates ready to bounce back. Schoolcraft was able to start the game with a 2-0 lead after capitalizing on both technical foul free throws that was awarded before the tip-off. Defense would be a key point in the 1st quarter, and it would be in full effect as the Ocelots would only give up 7 points in the first frame aided by 3 steals and only allowing 2nd offensive rebounds. In the 2nd quarter, the offense would open for the Ocelots. Schoolcraft would score a total of 24 points in the 2nd quarter. Aliyah Thilavanh and Nevaeh Cable would each put up 6 points with each going 2/2 from behind the arc. Going into the half, Schoolcraft would lead 37-21.
Coming out of the locker room, Sharon Smith would prove to be the leading force. Smith would account for 8 out of the 15 points in the 3rd quarter. No points would be more important than the Teddy Bear Toss clinching 3-pointer Smith would hit just 14 seconds into the 3rd quarter. Schoolcraft would once again outscore the Triceratops in the quarter by a score of 15-12. The 4th quarter would see much of the same action but with Tri-C slightly outscoring the Ocelots 16-14. After 40 minutes of play, Schoolcraft would avenge their loss the previous night with a 66-49 victory.
Sharon Smith would lead the way with 12 points, 8 of those coming in that 3rd quarter. Aliyah Thilavanh would score 11 points, her highest point total on the year, to join Smith as the only Ocelots in double figures. Erin Young would be a key factor on the boards, grabbing 8 rebounds with 3 of them coming on the offensive end. Out of 17 total offensive rebounds, Halle Rogers would grab the most with 5.
Schoolcraft will return from their holiday break on December 30 when they travel to the #8 ranked Parkland College (IL). Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m.
