DETROIT, MI – It was back to MCCAA play for the Ocelots as they were faced up against the Monarchs from Macomb Community College for this weekend’s conference series.
Game 1 – In game 1 of the series, the Ocelots would be able to get off to a hot start. By scoring 2 runs in the bottom half, after holding Macomb to a 0 to start the game, Schoolcraft found themselves leading by 2 after just 1 inning. Before Macomb could get on the board, Schoolcraft would extend their lead. Andrew Thorning knocked in the 3rd run of the game on a single to right field. That fun from Thorning would prove to be huge as Macomb would come out and put a 3 spot up in the top of the 4th to tie the game. The score would stay dead locked until the bottom of the 6th when Tyler Allos would single up the middle, scoring Bryan Tuttle, to take a 4-3 lead. Dominic Westfall would pitch a run free 7th inning, earning him the win. Philip Millerstarted the game on the mound going 5 innings, 3 earned runs and 4 strikeouts.
Game 2 – Things would seemingly go the opposite way for the Ocelots in game 2. Before they could blink, Macomb had already plated a run in the top of the 1st. Things would continue for Macomb as after 3 innings of play, Macomb would be leading, 6-0. Schoolcraft would show some fight. In the bottom of the 5th, Schoolcraft would score 5 runs with the first 2 runs coming on a Sawyer Pace double. The inning would end with a bases loaded fly out to the right field fence. Macomb would bounce back and pile on, winning the game 15-5.
