The Ocelots began their home 2025 MCCAA slate by playing host to the newly ranked Mott Bears.
The Ocelots were looking to get back into the win column following the loss to Macomb as would come out of the gate ready. Over the first 10 minutes of the 1st half, Schoolcraft would build a 22-8 lead thanks to good defense and rebounding. Throughout the rest of the half, the score would hang around that 14-point mark, without ever getting back to single digits. Mott would hit a jump shot with 4 seconds remaining to give Schoolcraft a 12-point halftime lead.
The offensive woes would change for Mott in the 2nd half. Following a 30.3% performance in the first 20 minutes for the Bears, Mott would shoot 53.3% from the floor in the 2nd half on their way to 45 points in the half. The reverse would happen for Schoolcraft as the Ocelots would shoot 39.4% from the field in the 2nd half, equating to just 29 points. Schoolcraft would have a chance to tie the game with 7 seconds remaining, following a missed free throw by Mott, but a turnover would give the Bears the ball back. In the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half, Mott would go on a run that would allow them to trim the Ocelot lead to just 3 points. Following a made layup at the 10:35 mark, Mott would take the lead and not look back.
Kechan Johnson led the way for Schoolcraft with 17 points, followed by Andrew Kimbrough, Booker Washington, and Rael Cochran. Marshall Thorn led the way on the glass with 9 rebounds.
Schoolcraft looks to get their first conference win on the year on Saturday as they travel to Wayne County for a 3 p.m. tip.
