Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is now accepting applications for officer positions for the 2020- 2021 school year. There are currently 7 positions available which include chapter President and Vice President, as well as Secretary, VP of Scholarship, VP of Service, VP of Leadership and VP of Communications.
The deadline to submit officer applications is no later than March 6. Those interested in applying should expect to dedicate 8 to 12 hours per week to these positions and will last through the end of the winter 2021 semester.
As Leadership, amongst Service, Scholarship and Fellowship, is one of the four Hallmarks of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, past leadership experience is encouraged but not required.
Becoming a PTK officer provides the opportunity to enhance communication and professional skills that may help in future career endeavors. Conduct is also very important to PTK and representatives should uphold the values of the society. Officers should be driven and committed. In addition, students who are self-starters and organized will help to improve and accomplish projects within the organization.
“Officers are someone who is driven to challenge themselves and the people around them,” states Mathew Fular, President of PTK. “Officer roles are not easy and require a great deal of balancing and learning on the go… I cannot believe how much I have grown as an individual. You also get opportunities to travel to conventions to learn new information that can improve our chapter.”
Any PTK members interested in applying for officer positions can fill out the form and return it to the Students Activities Office, located in the Lower Waterman, VisTaTech Center.
