Schoolcraft faculty, staff and students came together on Sept. 29 for a virtual debate watch party and moderated discussion forum hosted by the Student Activities Board (SAB). Throughout the debate, there was a live text chat where students expressed their opinions on the events and arguments that took place and were discussed. After the debate concluded, there was an open conversation forum that was moderated by Political Science professor, Alec Thomson.

“The watch party gave students an opportunity to have a voice,” stated Business Club President and an attendee of the event, Catreese Qualls. “The most important part was that it provided students a safe and moderated opportunity to share differing opinions and beliefs.”

This watch party was the first part of a four-part series.

The next debate watch party will be Oct. 7 for the Vice Presidential Debate between Senator, Kamala Harris and incumbent Vice President, Mike Pence.

The next presidential debates will be held Oct. 15 and Oct. 22 at 9 p.m.
