The Schoolcraft College women’s soccer team moved to 2-0 in conference play with a 2-0 win over Jackson College on Tuesday, August 29The first half would yield positive results for the Ocelots without having a goal to show for it. Schoolcraft would post ten total shots in the half, putting six on net with Jackson’s keeper saving all six. To add onto the chances for Schoolcraft, the Ocelots would have six corner kick opportunities as well in the first half. The fouls would be at a minimum for both sides with only four fouls a side in the first half of the game.
Things would open a little bit for Schoolcraft in the second half. Paige Stephens would break the tie in the 69th minute with an unassisted goal. Stephens would not stop there, she would continue her runs, trying to get more chances for the Ocelots when in the 80th minute, she would get connected with Brynn Riley and Kyra Brandon when Stephens would float one over the keeper’s head to push the Schoolcraft lead to two.
Jami Martindale would earn her second clean sheet of the year, making six saves for the game with some of them coming in key moments defending Jackson’s counters.
#8 Schoolcraft (2-2, 2-0) returns to the pitch on Friday, September 1 as they travel to Grand Rapids Community College (2-2, 2-2) with kickoff at 1pm.
