The 42nd annual Plymouth Ice Festival presented by Michigan First Credit Union is an annual event hosted in downtown Plymouth. This years festivities ran from Feb. 2-4, 2024. People of all ages could enjoy ice sculpture carving demos, tubing runs, vendors and more! The weather was warmer then usual this time of year which made activities a bit more tolerable.
Hours of operation were Friday Feb. 2 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday Feb. 4, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Patrons could walk around downtown sidewalks lined with ice carvings. Each work of art started out as a 350 lb. block of ice and was transformed throughout the event. World renown ice carvers created over 60 carvings to be displayed over the three days. Sculptures were available for viewing 24 hours a day and remained standing after the event – weather permitting.
If the weather got too cold for your liking patrons could warm up in style at the Hot Spot, heated by Ehlers Heating and Air Conditioning. Located under The Gathering directly across from Kellogg Park the Hot Spot featured local vendors, businesses, product demonstrations, a sitting area to take a load off your feet and (most importantly) lots of heat.
Another main attraction was the tubing run. It featured over 100 feet of tubing excitement with fun for the whole family.
Located next to the Ice Playground, our friends at Carousel Acres offered a hands on experience with horses, donkeys, goats. sheep, alpaca and even a baby calf . The Petting Farm also featured pony rides for the kids.
The nightly music entertainment was featured at the Party Lot and Ice Bar located at EG. Nicks On Friday, Feb. 2 –Ava James and The Rumors and Saturday, Feb. 3, Power Play Detroit performed.
