With a record of 11-0, the Schoolcraft Women’s basketball team continues to demonstrate its strength and depth in its roster, aiming for postseason success, just as it did in the 24-25 season.
Currently, the team, Coached by Shay Lewis, is ranked as the 8th best team in the country in the NJCAA DII national rankings and the Ocelots have the best overall record in the entire MCCAA (Michigan Community College Athletic Association).
In a dynamic sport like basketball, victories are certainly built on both good offensive and defensive performance, but it’s worth highlighting the Ocelots’ great offensive performance in three games at the start of this season, in which they were able to win by 100 points or more. Games versus Clark State College (136-32 ), Delta College (100-53) and Glen Oaks Community College (118-46) have demonstrated how much chemistry this team has offensively.

Same Game, Different Scenarios
Despite a dominant start to the season, the Ocelots have already had the opportunity to be tested against the also ranked #10 Lansing Community College, an opponent that is also seeking titles this season.
The team demonstrated focus and discipline to overcome a halftime deficit and finish the game with a 65-61 victory on Dec. 6. Averi Collins’ offensive contribution in the second quarter was particularly noteworthy, scoring 7 of the 21 points scored by the Ocelots.
Overall in the game, Briana Young stood out with 16 points and five steals, while Riley Abney and Pria Johnson-Musah contributed 13 and 11 points, respectively, in addition to steals, assists, blocks and rebounds.
Consolidating Victories
To conclude their winning streak, the Ocelots participated in the Thunderwolves Holiday Classic, hosted by SUNY Niagara, this past weekend.
In their first game against Monroe Community College (Dec. 13), the Ocelots secured a comfortable 78-58 victory. Briana Young stood out, recording a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds.
On Sunday (Dec. 14), the Ocelots faced the host team, SUNY Niagara, achieving another convincing victory with a score of 75-47. Briana Young once again excelled offensively, being the top scorer of the game with 19 points, followed by Riley Abney with 14 points.
