It might have been Friday the 13th on the calendar but there was no bad luck for the Ocelots this evening. Schoolcraft used a strong third period to pull away and defeat Penn State University 4–2 in the ACHA DII Men’s Hockey National Tournament action on Friday, March 13, 2026.
After a scoreless opening period that featured tight checking and three minor penalties, the game exploded offensively in the second period with four combined goals.
Penn State struck first at 5:56 of the second period on the power play when Grasser scored his first of the season, finishing a setup from Tymchyshyn and Mavris to give PSU a 1–0 lead.
Schoolcraft responded quickly. Just under two minutes later, Zulka tied the game at 7:47, converting a play from Evans and Sabala. The momentum stayed with Schoolcraft, and West gave them their first lead at 12:43, scoring his second goal of the season with assists from McGowan and Fretter.
Penn State answered late in the period to even the game. At 17:06, Schwarzmiller buried his second of the year off a pass from Groton, sending the teams into the second intermission tied 2–2.
The third period belonged to Schoolcraft.
At 7:11, Boze broke the tie, finishing a feed from West to put Schoolcraft ahead 3–2. Penn State pushed for the equalizer, but Schoolcraft goaltender Brown held strong.
With Penn State pressing late, Scarlett sealed the win with 1:26 remaining, scoring his first of the season from Tripp at 18:34 to make it 4–2.
