Marissa Getschman, Arts and Entertainment Editor
I was unsure about joining “The Connection” when I first started at Schoolcraft. My sister, Mandy Getschman, had been pushing for me to join the paper since she wrote for it a decade prior (Fun Fact: My uncle, Dave Getschman, wrote for the Connection long before Mandy), but I was afraid the decision to join wouldn’t be mine. I’m planning on majoring in vocal performance and music education, not journalism. I’m at my happiest on stage singing, dancing and playing characters like Jane Porter in “Tarzan” and Patty Di’Marco in “School of Rock.” Still, I caved and joined the paper as a staff writer which turned out to be one of the best decisions I could have made for myself. The position of Arts and Entertainment editor soon blew in my direction and I now get to spend each week writing with some of the greatest friends I could ask for.
